NEW ZEALAND ALLIANCE.
The annual meeting of the New Zealand Alliance commenced yesterday morning, m the Scottish Society's rooms, Christchurch. Delegate's from all parts of the colony •yi^ere present. Mr Wesley Spragg, the President of the Alliance, occupied the chair. The Rev. F. W. Isitt submitted the annual report, which placed on record the self-denying efforts of all those workers whose untiring- work ; and energy had been instrumental m giving this opoortunity of showing the ppsi•tion m which the cause now stands. Out of 76 electorates only ler carried continuance with a majority for liquor; 60 had a majority, ifdi" N/o-licenae, arid of these no feww than 15; secured a 55 per cent majority, A total vote of 221,471 was given at last poll, an increase of 22,708 over the vote of 198,768 m 1905. For the whole dominion the majority of No-license was 33,331 —one of the most gratifying features of the elections, and-one which had greatly impressed the whole people. ■ . The balance-sheet showed a balance of £68 14s lOd of income over expenditure ; assets £23© 2s lOd.' Mr Wesley Spragg, of Auckland, wap again elected President. ;
