THE PRICE OF FLOUR.

FURTHER REDUCTIONS UN- "■; LIKELY.

Information gleaned in Timaru. on Monday was to the effect that, at the meeting of,directors of the New Zealand Flour Millers' Association held in Christehurch on Thursday last : the question of further reducing the price of flour was discussed. There: is considerable secrecy as to what .actually happened at the meeting, , but from what has leaked out it appears that as millers are not obtaining a profitable price for their flour at-the present price of -wheat, no further reduction could be made in the,,pric& of flour just now. .It is. understood, however, that branch managers, and agents of the Association in the different; centres are to be instructed to keep; a sharp look out with a view to ascertaining the prices at which outside millers are disposing of their flour, and the discounts they are giving, and to meet any "cutting" tactics by corresponding reductions m price,' any loss incurred 1 thereby to be made good to the millers from the reserve fund acumulated by the Association. This fund is. said to amount now to a good many: thousand pounds. Negotiations for patching up the difference which exists between tho Association and the millers who have severed their connection with it have so Car proved futile, and at. present there does not seem to bd much prospect of a satisfactory reunion.
