MURDER OF AN ENGLISH TRAVELLER.
Per Press Association. —Copyright. Received June 14, 10.5 a.m. SYDNEY, June 14. Chinese newspaper files give details of the murder of Brooks, an English; traveller, in the Lole Country. Brooks was accompanied by escorts of _ seven Chinese, including an interpreter.* Tho last-named deserted. A native attempted to attack Brooks with a sword, bub he drew a revolver and shot the native dead, and then took refuge with" another tribe, which, pretending friendship, induced Brooks to surrender? his^ firearms. They then called in previously hostile tribesmen, who 'massacred Brooks and four of his escort. The other two attendants were' sold into slavery. - ". .'
