EXCITEMENT IN MARSEILLES
PARIS, June 12. Two violent earthquake shocks were felt throughout the Riviera. In Marseilles there was great excitement. The streets and cafes were plunged in darkness, owing to the failure of the electric light, and the entire population of the town was out of doors till dawn. Houses collapsed in several towns, and there were" a few fatalities. Ships at Toulon strained their cables.
