THE BUDGET,
LONDON, June 11. After a vigorous attack by Mr Balfonr and a short ,spirited reply tiy Mt Asquith, the second reading of the Finance Bill was agreed to by 366 votes to 209. §ixty-two Nationalists voted with the minority. The Lord Mayor of Dublin and the sheriffs and aldermen, m their robes, appeared at the Bar of the House of Commons, as a protest against the Budget. Four hundred Unionist amendments have been handed m, and many more are m preparation. The Daily. Telegraph states that sixty Liberals are likely to memorialise the Government to abandon the landtax. It is understood that the official advisers of .the. Chancellor-of the Exchequer have always declared the land proposals were impracticable and' unworkable.
