Mr Wragge. had, scarcely begun his lecture last night when he was interrupted by someone at the back, who tried to create a disturbance, both by interjecting and stamping. Mr Wragge's swift set-down silenced the interrupter, who soon discovered that the temper of the audience was not to be trifled with. There was every likelihood of the man being ejected from the building, but with all his blockishness, he had j enough sense to see that he was out I of touch and sympathy with practically the whole of the audience; and seeing this, he kept quiet, though very likely had., not the mind to follow the lecturer. . Sir Justice Denniston and Mr S. F. Whitcbmbe (District Traffic Manager of the Railways) returned north by this afternoon's express. A' man named James Ham. was fined £3 and costs, at the Police Court, Wellington, .to-day, for betting m a public street. , Mr J. C. N. Grigg is giving a trophy valued at 5 guineas to the winner of the open light-weight championship contest, at the boxing tournament on Friday night.
