OSRISTCHURCH, June 8. In response to a deputation that Waited an the Mayor of Christchurch on Sunday to urge the putting m hand of relief works for the unemployed, Mr Allison convened a meeting of the •works-and general water supply committees: of the City Council to discuss the matter. 1 ' , It was decided to telegraph to the Premier, asking for a Government sub- ■ sidy for relief works to be undertaken by the (P-ouncil.
