The police reports-were, favourable m all cases, except;that wherein wopdetf buildings were reported to' be out of date and fire escapes of knotted ropes were inadequate. One of these, the Hibernian Hotel, is m town and the other two are m the country. These: three applications Were adjourned and all the other licenses■ were granted..,;-' DUNEDINj June' 7. The City Licensing Committee d&* cided-to reduce the number of licenses' by ten, and the consideration of twenty licenses was held over for the taking of evidence .to decide which shall go. At the annual meeting of th© Ditnedin Licensing Committee; to-day, eight applications'for publicans' licenses for hotels were refused as follows : Adelaide Hotel (Colin Campbell), Caledonia Hotel, (J. Race), Scotia Hotel (J. J. Roughan), Douglas Hotel (G. Geddes). Shades Hotel (J. Barclay), tDuke of Edinburgh; .Hotel (D., McKenzie), Great • Northern Hotel (J. Toomey), and Qtieen's ■:• Hotel (J. Crane). Th<; following six applications are nncler consideration :: •; Central Hotel (Haydon), Gladstone: Hotel '.(Collins)r Wain's Hotel (Binstead), Prince of Wal"s Hotel (Gray), Royal Albert Ho-, tel (McGavin), and Rainbow Hotel (Glo3son). It is understood that two of these applications will be refused. Applications for bottle licenses will be taken on Wednesday. All applica-. tions for wholesale lioens-es arid, an application for a packet license for the Manuka were Granted. . - . WESTPORT, June 7. The Buller Licensing Committee rofused an application for a new license at Mine Creek. Eleven o'clock extensions were granted- where applied for.
