Wood, Chairman of the New Zealand Flour Millers' Association,, was seen to-day with regard to the .message from Auckland that two Australians have left for New Zealand to buy., up all.the surplus wheat, and that wo: cargo boats are on their way-out to ship the grain, and by August next there will not be a particle of wheat left m; the country, and flour and bread will strongly advance m price m consequence. • Mr Wood said he had heard of nothing of the sort, , and he thought that if anything of the kind was contemplated those interested w6uld. riot have allowed any information to leak o : ut before they had secured the grain. So far as he was aware, there had been no buying ;on any-scale, m fact, for the.past week or,two the business m wheat, had .been of a hand-to-mouth character. He .looked upon the information as being of the nature .of a canard, or as having been put m circulation by persons who are probably anticipating a dissolution of the Association, and are desirous of keeping lip the prices' of wheat. Regarding the Association's affairs, Mr Wood ' said that there was no news that' he could give f(6r publication.
