At the annual meeting of the Awarua Licensing Committee to-day, all applications for renewal but one were granted, and that one was adjourned pending completion of re-building. An application for a license for the old Waikiwi Hotel, which is not far over the- border of the No-license area, was refused. ' At; Wellington yesterday, states a Press Association telegram, the executive of the New Zealand Alliance resolved— " That this meeting enters a strong protest against the granting" of wholesale licenses for the sal© of liquor m the King Country.
