Is ,per dozen would be paid for birds he^ds (starlings excepted) until "further notice.—Received. .... ■ TM County Council forwarded a Copy of a resolution passed. by it on the question of local government, and requesting the Board to send a representative to the proposed conference on the matter.—The Clerk stated that the letter had been replied to favourably, and no answer had yet been received. The Town Clerk wrote, asking if tho Board would be prepared to hire its machine for crushing road _ metal to the Borough Council, and if so, on what terms.—Resolved to hire the crusher on the same terms as last year The Overseer reported that the < repairs to roads were still proceeding; also that the clearing of the drain at Frampton's had been let to a conractor at £3. The fencing, etc.,, at the office had been completed at ,a cost of £17 Is 3d. Repairs estimated to cost £3 12s 6d were needed to flood gates on the storm water channel at the junction of the Township and Butterick's roads, and a footbridge was required at Sinclair's corner. The Creek below Elgin's bridge required cleaning, and repairs at the two water crossings' fronting Reserve 1419 had been attended' to. It was stated that the Board would have to decide during the present month what rate should be struck for the year, and that on the valuation rateable (£719,743) a rate of 5-16 th of a penny m ...the.. £ would yield a revenue of £937.—The report was adopted, and the recommendations agreed to. Mr J. Allen gave notice to move at the next meeting that a rate of 5-16 th of a penny m the £ be struck on the rateable value of all property m the Wakanui Road district. It was resolved to tussock a portion of Christie's road, tenders to be put m by the 19th inst. After authorising a number of small works, and passing accounts, amounting to £94 9s lid the Board rose.
