SUPREME COURT.
TIMARU, June 4. The civil business began to-day at the '• Supreme Court with the case m which G Selbie is suing J. and C. Shaw and J A. Manchester, separately and iointly, fon £1000 damages for the loss of his daughter, aged thirty-eight, who was killed by a street accident during the last Timaru show. Three solicitors were acting for the^plamtin, and' two for each of the defendant parties, Mr Solomon, X.C, leading for; &. Selbie, Mr Stringer, X.C, for J. and C Shaw, and Mr Raymond for J. A Manchester. Briefly, the circumstances of the case as stated for the plaintiff were that Selbie and hie daughter were driving slowly out of iown on the middle of the road, when Toune: ,Shaw, who was driving a fast LT t L- stallion, came down a steep [ -along and knocked ! died from her iniunes trhe clay. ■i Plaintiff claims tliat Shaw was jMgU ; gent m driving too fast, and fc f Chester m not pulling up, as he.had /plenty of time to see that an accident ■ had happened.
