OBITUARY.
MR WILLIAM jPREBBLE
Mr WilHam Prebble, a very early colonist; passed away at the age of eighty-three on Thursday morning at the residence of his daughter, Mrs E. Candy, of Kimberley. Mr Prebble left Great Britain m 1840, m the ship Aurora and arrived m Wellington early! m 1841. He worked for a time for Mr: Deans, but later on he took up 50' acres of land at Prebbleton and sub-, sequently 250 .acres, and the little township of Prebbleton took its name from the Prebble family. Mr PrebbW was a^ very successful farmer m his, early days, and was one of the firstto introduce steam threshing mills m his district.
