Per Pr«*s Association. : ' AUCKLAND, June 4. A labourer named Frank McDayitt was killed by a fall of earth while employed on the railway works at Wellsiord. His relatives, it is believed, .live at Taihape. ' • CHRISTCHUROH, June 4. "" "Walter Best, twenty-six years of age, residing m York Street, Opawa, whilst crossing the railway line at the, Lin-' w.ood station yesterday morning was knocked down by a train. He had his arm broken, and was severely bruised. TIMARU, June 1. '■Yesterday John Stevenson, aged about 70 years, while passing another mari on the wharf, between a railway truck and a steamer, fell over ihe edge, and was pinned between th<i steamer and its fender. _ His right : thigh was crushed, and he died at midnight.
