ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET.

CHRISTCHURCH, June 2. At the Addington live stock market to-day there were very large \ entries of fat sheep and • lambs, and a fair entry, of other classes of stock. There was a good attendance of the public^ and. competition was. fairly keen. There was a fairly large) yarding of fat lambs. The sale opened rather weakly, but i improved as it progressed, and. closed at prices equal with those ruling at the previous sale. Freezing buyers operated freely,, and took the bulk of the yarding, butchers for the most part standing off. Freez.ers made lls, a few heavy-weights making 14s Bd, and light-weights 10s to lls. Store Sheep.—The yarding of store sheep was slightly better than that of the previous week, and included some good lines of ewes and hoggets. All . the , lines were . disposed of after fair competition, at' prices on a-par with last week's rates. A line of 185 threequarterbred wether hoggets "sold at 10s, an average line of hoggets (mixed sexes) made 8s 9d to 9s 6d, and culls 7s to 8s; a line of two, four afrd sixtooth ewes made 15s lid, full-mouth ewes 14s, and.: failing-mouth ewes 8s 6d to 10s 1: Wethers, of which there was a small yarding, sold at prices eqnul to those given at the previous sale. ■ . . ■. ' .Vat Sheep.—There was a large entry of fat sheep, which included considerable proportions' of well-finished lines; The previous week's prices were well maintained. The range of prices was: Prime wethers 14s 6d to 17s lOd, lighter, to 14s; grime ewes 13s to 14s, extra to 16s 7<l, medium 9s 3d to lls 6d, light 8s ■9d to 9s, ' and merino wethers 9s lOd to 10s 2d. ■ Fat Cattle.—The yarding of fat cattle was 204 head, which included some animals of good quality. The tone of the market was more brisk than at recent sales, and an all-round advance of 2s per lOOlbs was recorded. Best steer beef made 19s to 225, medium 17s 6d to l'ss 6d, and cow beef 15s 6d to 17s per lOOlbs. Steers realised from £8 5s to £10 7s 6d, heifers £5 to £8, cows £4 10s to £7 15s. Calves.—There was< a good yarding of fat calves, which met with a good demand, prices ranging from 4d 6d to £2 12s, according to age and condition. Pigs.—The yarding of" pigs was a fair one, but the demand was slack . practically for all classes. Choppers) realised up to £3 10s, heavy" baconers 50s to 575, and lighter 45s to 48s (equal to 4^d per lb); heavy, porkers made 36s to 425, and lighter; 30s to 35s (equal to 5d per lb). For small stores there was little demand, and large sorts made 33s to 375, medium 25s ito 30s, and small 14s to 18s. Weaners made from 6s to 13s. '■ ■• ■
