TINWALD TOWN BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Tinwald Town Board was held last evening. Present—Messrs T. "Williams (in the chair), G. W. Morrison and D. Teppett. An apology for absence was received from Mr J. A. Clothier, on account of ill-health. A letter was read from the Government Valuation Department, forwarding statement of an account.—The account was passed for payment. [ Drs Maiide and Hunter reported | cases of measles and diphtheria in the district.—The chairman stated that the matter had been attended to, the patients having been sent to the Hospital and their places of residence disinfected. The inspector reported that with the exception of a defective drain the sanitary conditions of the district was satisfactory. Ho had issued insturctions for the closing in of the drain referred to. ' The report was adopted, and it was decided that the inspector be asked to furnish a more detailed report in future. The Inspector of Permanent "Ways of of New Zealand Railways reported that the drain from the subway at Tinwald had been cleaned out, and he pointed out that some repairs were necessary in the subway.—llie matter was left in the hands of the Works Committee with power to act. The Municipal Association wrote asking if the Board is prepared to join in establishing a joint fund for superannuation in connection with _ the employees of local bodies.—Received. The tender of Mr D. McMillan was accepted for the lease of a gravel reserve near the saleyards. The Works Committee reported having executed repairs to several footbridges and channels. i Accounts amounting to £9 9s 4d j were passed for payment and the meet-! ing adjourned.
