RICHARDS' ENTERTAINERS.
The Richards' Entertainers made their first appearance before an. Ashburton audience in the Oddfellows' Hall last evening. There was not a large attendance, but, despite this fact, the company presented a varied and popular programme, consisting of animated pictures, descriptive and comic vocal items, and brilliant and burlesque juggling. Mr Brander Balfour, who possesses a rich baritone voice, con.trih.uted "Nirvana," " Sa^y Homer," and "Rod Wing—the latter being illustrated—in a very finished style; while Air W. Hughes established himself a prime favourite with the audience in his comic songs. ' The two Arnold Brothers gave a clever exhibition of juggling, club-swinging and burlesque. Mr A. T. Richards operated the cinematograp.h, arid Miss Ruby Thornton presided'at the piano throughout the entertainment. Judging by the frequent rounds of hearty applause given tbo various performers, those present -thoroughly onjoyed the entertainment, which is certainly the best of its class that has visited" Ashburton-for some time past, and is worthy of liberal public patronage. The company will appear again this evening, when there will be a change of programme.
