The area of land under wheat for threshing purposes was 252,391 acres, an increase of 59,360 acres on the figures given for 1907-8. The area of oat crops was 746,720 acres, or 65,192 acres more than Jast year. To barley 52,5fiQ acres were devo'* < against 41,285 for the preceding year. The table shows that more land has been devoted to the following products than formerly: Rye, maize, beans, potatoes, mangolds, rape, carrots, orchards and vineyards. The area of sown grasses has increased by nearly 700,000 acres, and fallow land by nearly 3000 acres. Tlip number j of hqrsos in the dominion fit present is 363,778, or 10,521 more than last year. The cattle number 1,773,326 against ■1,816,299 for 1907-8 and swine, increased by 39G4, now number 245,092, The total number of sheep is set *lown on April 30th at 22,449,053, an increase of 1,465,281,
