The Ash bur (.on Temperance Brass Band will play the following programme m Baring Square east this evening, commencing at 8 o'clock: March, "George"; waltz, " Bues and Blossoms"; march, " Irwell Springs"; selection, "Maritana"; waltz, "Winter looses' 1; march, "Vespasian";, fantasia, "Balmoral"; march.. "Washington Greys" ; " God Save the King." At a sitting of the Pension Court today Mr V. G. Day, S.M., agreed to the renewal of 40 pension claims; four new applications for the full pension tverc granted; and one was adjourned till July to enable the applicant to produce proof of age. Heavy rain fell at Springburn this morning. An Ashburton farmer to-day stated that he had to refuse Jis iOd per bushel for a large line of velvet wheat, m consequence of his not having it threshed ready for immediate delivery. Madame Melba has arrived at Fremantle by the mail steamer.
