METHODIST CONFERENCE.
WELLINGTON, February 24. The Methodist Conference, which opens to-morrow evening, is being preceded by the ministers' meeting m committee to deal witli probationers, candidates, etc. The attendance m above the average, and includes a large number from the South Island. From Canterbury iliore are present: The Key. H. R. Duwsbury. H. Bull, R. Griffiths, L. Hudson, J. A. Lochore, S. La wry, and W. Sinclair (Christchurch), A. Peters (Lyttelton), C. Abernethy (Springston), !>. J. James (Tai Tapu), T. Trestrail (Kaianoi), J. T. Pinfold, A. Ashcroft. T. A. Joughin (Rangiora), R. Richards (Malvern), W. Baumber (Timarn, P. W. Fairclough (Waimate), W. Beckett (Temuka), H. E. Bellhouse (Ashbirion). The Rev. F. Copeland (Eltham), A. C. Randerson, M.A. (Mosgiel), and R. Richards (Malvern) were accepted for ordination, subject to endorsement later by the conference. The ordination service will take place on .Sunday. March 7th. All the preachers on trial were passed m their year. They include the Rev. W. G. Maslin (Kaiapoi) and J. R. Beeche (Asliburton); also the Rev. W. Burley, formerly of Asliburton.
