THE MAYOR OF AUCKLAND.

Per Press Association AUCKLAND, February 24. The Mayor of Auckland (Mr Arthur M. Myers), who vacates that position to-morrow m order to proceed on a I trip to the Old Country, took leave of | the citizens to-night at an immense gathering m the Albert Park. Fully ten thousand persons were present. The function took place at the band rotunda, the space around which was brilliantly illuminated by lamps specially erected by the Gas Company. An address, which is to be illuminated, was presented to Mr Myers by Mr L. J. rSagnall, president of the Chamber of Commerce, on behalf of mimerous subscribers. The Mayor was also received a presentation from the Auckland Provincial Bands Association. This took the form of a largo shield bearing photographs of tho members of the Association, and of the Mayor and Mrs Myers. It was mentioned that during hie four years of office the Mayor had contributed £850 to the funds of the Bands Association..
