TARANAKI PETROLEUM.
Per Pres3 Association NEW PLYMOUTH, February 20. As a result of about twenty-four hours' actual pumping since the fire occurred at the petroleum works, about 1200 gallons of oil have been obtained. There is a little brine in the well, but the manager regards this as an excellent sign> also a little silt, which is to be expected. The pump is working splendidly, and the oil yield is increasing. The manager declares the prospect to be good. .
