PUNISHING A SUNDAY SCHOOL BOY.
To the Editor. Sir, —Whilst passing by the Allenton school on Sunday afternoon I saw a teacher chasing a Sunday School boy around the playground. He caught the boy and thrashed him unmercifully with a stick, knocking the boy down, and striking him whilst lying down. Ho broke a big stick twice across him. I On taking the J'ioy back to school he again used him severely, taking hold of the boy's hand and screwing it behind hie back. 1 saw the boy a minute after, for he-ran from, the rclace. The lad's face was badly scratched, hie right cheek covered with blood, which had a!so spoiled his collar. The boy told me that the previous Sunday the J teacher pulled his ears, making him deaf for some days. Now, sir, I think a man with this disposition is not a fife person to teach young children. OBSERVER.
