EXCESSIVE HEAT.

Sir, —Referring to the very high (99.5 degrees) readings in fc'he shade in Ashburton on Tuesday,' the 7th, my higher readings at Ajford on reliable instruments in the shade were respectively 107 degrees, and later 105 degrees. It on the lattor occasion, Flip last clay of shearing, when the dogt refused to come from under the wool--bed after 11 a.pi., that Willie Grieve and I hod to keep v the shed full of the last of many mobs; that I broke down in .health.
