They decline to arrest Raisuli, though they ar« willing to compel him to leave their territory. During the bombardment hordes ol Moors assailed the British Consulate at Casablanca. N The staff, assisted by c French officer and twelve seamen, Mi Kerr, a medical missionary, and Mr C. E. Hands, war correspondent, gallantlj defended the building. At one moment the position was so critical that the defenders burnt the Government cipher books. The main French force, under Genera] Drude, encamped on the outside of the town, repulsed an attack by 6000 Moors and killed 2000.
