FOOTBALL.

AUCTIONEERS v. BANKS AND PROFESSIONS.

To-morrow afternoon the annual match, Auctioneers v. Banks and Professions, will be played on the Oval. The weather has been somewhat unsettled for the last few days, but there is a good chance of the contest being decided under the best conditions. Both teams have been putting in good training lately, and the game will doubtless be a very interesting one. In the evening, a dinner will be held at the Commercial Hotel, the losing team paying the cost. A FEW NOTES. W. Harrison —Full-back; a young player; can slide a hit (on skates). M. J. Lynskey—The coach of ■ the team; always looking for an opening, and cannot be beaten "at a bargain."

S. Culverhouse —(Tommy), a ■ great representative player; will be seen at his best to-morrow; will play well if only—to please the ladies.

G. Smith —The flower of the Green and Black third grade.

Pi. Hodgson—Kicks like a giraffe; if entrusted with goal-kicking, is sure to "put it up a couple." A. Anderson —The quiet boy of the team, though very green (?).

Henderson —A recent importation; has a great reputation as first down (at the table).

M. Buchanan—Good at potting (goals); gets his place on reputation. ■Les. Hardie —The dribbling forward; always scores.

D. C. D. Thomas—First down (to breakfast)!!!

G. Scott—A safe player; his opponents will never score off "the red."

H. Amos—From a fast stable; like Petard, a sprinter. N. Foster—The ladies' man; will play -forward 10 minutes, then right back.

F. Brophy—Once of frozen meat fame; now a co-op, ink-splasher; a ■ good colt. D. Friedlander—The little half-back; when in form, very smart at gettingi "into touch."
