ASHBURTON COUNTY RUGBY UNION.

The usual weekly meeting of the Ashbarton County Rugby Union was held last evening. Present—Rev E. Whitehouse (in the chair), Messrs W. Hodgkins, P. L. Orr, A. J. Tyrrell-Baxter, B. Cassells, T. Turtill, F. Choat, and F. Pritchard. Correspondence was read :— From Springburn Club, desiring to forfeit junior match with Hakatere Club, as neither dates suggested would be convenient.—Forfeit granted. From L. Hagerty, regarding injuries received in a recent match,.and enclosing medical certificate and statement of expenses incurred.—Resolved to hold oi er for the present the allocation of grants towards injured players. From W. Page, apologising for having acted discourteously to-the referee in the recent match, Hakatere versus Southern Cross.—Received.

The manager of the representative team which had visited Leeston on Thursday reported on the result of the match, and spoke appreciatively of the

conduct of the team, both on and off the field.

Mr Baxter, who accompanied the team, said that the manner in which the members had conducted themselves reflected the highest credit on the manager, and on the Union whom they represented. Mr P. L. Orr, who was one of the players, concurred in these statements, and acknowledged the compliments on behalf of the players. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr I Pritchard, who had control of the team.
