SUBWAY OR OVERHEAD WAY.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —While giving Cr. Nicoll every credit for the trouble he is taking in this matter, I am not at all surprised to hear several have not signed his petition. As an amendment, I would suggest the Department be asked to remove the goods shed further north. By so doing they would do away with a great deal of the danger that exists at. present to all those who cross the line at their own risk, being trespassers according to law. The bulk of the shunting would be away from the platform, and one could see an engine or truck coming, whereas at present one never knows when one may emerge from tho goods shed or be upon one when you step beyond it. Even if an overhead way were erected, I fear unless the Department erect a barb-wire fence foot-passengers would still risk crossing the line in preference to walking up and down a flight of stops. I have tried the experiment witli a fair-sized portmanteau, and would rather take the risk. A WEST STREET RESIDENT.
