WITHOUT OPTION OF FINE.
The executive of the Petone Nolicense League has unanimously adopted the following resolution: —"That, inasmuch as it has been shown by the annual report of the Commissioner of Police (Mr Dinnie) that liquor sellers continually disregard and evade the liquor laws, that they do so wantonly and and deliberately under no pressure of necessity or passion .such as frequently prompts acts of theft or crimes of violence, and acting upon the opinion of Mr Dinnie that more severe punishment should be inflicted, that this meeting recommends an amendment of the law to the eifect that sly grog-sellers (especially in no-license, areas) be punished upon conviction with not less than three months' imprisonment without the option of a fine."—Vvellington Post.
