ASHBURTON GRAIN MARKET.
The following is the grain market report for the week ending July 26th, 1907 :— ■•■■•.'■ Wheat—The past has been an ex-1 fcremely quiet week in all departments of grain. As previously advised, the bulk of wheat in this district has now been disposed of. The-small quantity that remains is in farmers' hands, whose ideas are very much above the 'present rates offering by millers. Consequently, there is little chance of further business being reported until a change takes place in the uotside market. Meanwhile, quotations are nominally the same : Tuscan and Pearl 4s 3d to 4s 4d/ Hunters 4s 2d to 4s 3d. Oats —There has been a complete cessation of all business, owing to there not being sufficient stocks held to fill any orders offering. Farmers,, also, instead of threshing, are ..cutting into chaff, which is meeting with very ready sale, principally for Central Otago, and with the promise of free railage, rip doubt a very large amount of business will be done during the next month. Prices remain unaltered, 3s being offered for good, heavy lines of feed, while seed lines bring from 3s 3d to 3s 6d. Oatsheaf Chaff has again risen to 955, with the prospect of still higher rates for extra prime heavy.
