" Though the Association ii not willing," the letter continued, " to allow any compensation, and, as I think that a gate at this place will be a grent convenience, I will give your committee the right to open one there." The offer was accepted, and a very hearty vote of.thanks passed to Mr Rule on the motion of the President, seconded by Mr Coward. Mr Coward thought it would be as well if the Association could secure the sections adjoining, as the price seemed'very reasonable. Mr Reid was of opinion it would be better rather than come to a decision straight off to refer the matter to a committee. The question of placing a gate at the spot mentioned for the coming Show, and also a crossing over the water-race was referred to the Ground Committee with power to act. Me Thomas Harrison wrote regarding contest* for motor cars on the lines of competitions he had seen at Shows in England. The matter was referred to the Attractions Committee. The Railway Department wrote regarding special trains on Show Days, and the arrangements made were considered satisfactory, . B. Turner and E. Stephens were appointed stewards. TENDERS. Tenders for supplying music at the Show ware received from the Asbburton Temperance Band and the Ashburton County Band, each quoting a rate of twelve guineas for the two days. Mr Coward moved that the tender o£ the Temperance Band should be accepted. Mr Mawson seconded tjie motion. Mr Reid moved an amendment that the County Band should be appointed. Mr Upton seconded this. Considerable discussion ensued on the matter. The main point of difference in the tenders was the number of players quoted, the Temperance offering a greater number on each day.

Mr Wright asked if there was any means by which they could give the bands both a turn. .

A show of hands resulted in a tie, and the Chairman gave his voto in favour- of the amendment, the County Band being appointed. PARADING CATTLE, The Secretary reported on the question of parading prize oattle, stating that he had heard if this was done it would affect the entry, as most cattle were not handled enough to be tractable. Mr Blackley thought it would not be necessary to parade the cattle, while the President thought the idea was premature. Mr Wright said that they ought to start to parade their young cattle. It would be a move in the right direction. It was decided to cancel the recommendation of the Cattle Committee that the cattle should be paraded. LABELLING EXHIBITS. The secretary stated that at the last Show he had had some trouble through some exhibitors wanting to distinctly, label the exhibits "for sale." He wanted to knov^ if this should be allowed. Mr Mawson said that perhaps this could be allowed on the second day after a certain hour.

Mr Shearer thought that the difficulty could be overcome by charging a double entry fee for the privilege to display a card that tho exhibit was for safe. He moved in this direction. Mr Wright seconded the motion. Mr Keid thought that the exhibitors should be given liberty in the matter. He moved as an amendment that exhibitors should be allowed to use placards after the judging in their particular classes was finished. , . ' . The amendment was seconded. The Secretary stated that it had never been attempted to stop private sales in any shape or fbi in, What was desired to, be ; put down was the custom of some people of cantering their horses round and round the ring all day long with sale placards exhibited. Some people solely brought the animals for this purpose. On being put, the amendment was carried. MISCELLANEOUS. The Secretary reported that Mr T. F. Mr Shearer seconded the motion,, and it was carried.

Mr McElhinney $sked for space for traction engine and chaffcutter at the Show, and it was decided that space should be allotted on the same conditions as other implements.
