Heavy Damages for Slander.

Timaktt, Sept 8 At the District Court to-day J, Smart, stationmaster at Orari, and his wife were sued for damages for slanders uttered by the wife regarding tho wife of J. H, Stooker. a -sfcoreman of Orari. No defence was offered, and defendants tiid not put in an appearance. _ The jury found for plaintiff, dainages:£loo. \
In a second slander case from Fairlie the jury found for defendant.
