i Tokio, Sept. 8 : The troops prevented a determined attempt to destroy Count Katsura's private residence. Prominent popular leaders met and resolved to organise a national movement from Hokkaido to Formosa and memorialise the throne not to ratify peace. The newspapers summon the Ministry to resign.
A mob attaoked the officer of the " Kokumin," the only newspaper supporting the Government, and destroyed the machinery, despite the staff's brave resistance.
