EVENING SPORTS.
Fully four hundred people assembled m the Domain last evening to witness the sports promoted by the Ashburton Amateur Cycling and Athletic Club and to hear a musical programme submitted by the County Band. The fixture had been postponed from the previous Thursday on account of the unfavourable weather. Unusual interest centred m the sports, and as the weather was ideal) the programme presented was thoroughly enjoyed. The following are the results of the races:— 100 Yards Flat Handicap—lst heat—P. White 1, E. J. Dansey2. 2nd heat—James Brown 1, D. 0. D. Thomas 2. Final—R, J. Dansey 1, P. White 3. Dansey t won by about a yard. ' 440 Yards Flat Handicap—R. J. Dansey 1, P. White 2. Dansey won comfortably by several I yards. Time—s7sees. One Mile Bicycle Handicap—R. Davis 1, 0. Digby 2. There were four starters and Davis won with ease. Half-mile Bicyole Handicap—R, Davis I, 0. Digby 2. There were five starters.
