United Press Association— By Hlectrio Telegraph Wellington, Jan 31 A fire was discovered m Levin and Co's large warehouse early last evening. It appears to have broken out among the cotton waste on the top floor and was kept m check by the employees until the arrival of the Brigade. Very little damage was done. About £25,000 worth of wool was stored on the floor where the outbreak occurred. Auckland, Jan. 30 The N.Z. University Senate resolved on the motion of Professor F. B. Brown by 12 votes to 7 to make »n application to the General Medical Council of Britain and Ireland to permit the substitution of a modern language for Latin m the preliminary Medical Examination. The tfenato threw out Mr Hogben's motion for the rearrangement of the Junior Scholarship marks by making Latin not compulsory. , In the science degree Mr Baume's motion for a reduotion m the fees charged for degrees conferred by the University was deferred for the report next year by the Registrar.
