Alford Forest and Springburn Sports and Races.

A meeting of persons interested in the above fixture was held at Alford Forest on Saturday evening, Mr R, Fagan, as chairman of tho former Committee, presiding. The balance shaefc for the preceding year, showing a credit balance of iUtf, was adopted, The former officers were re-elect-ed, with the addition of Messrs Sawaon and Horsey as vice-presidents, whilst Mr K. Vincent was elected Chairman in the place of Mr R. Fagan (resigned), and Mr Dobbs in Hsu of Mr Watson as handicapper. Last year's programme of horse events, giviuK £71 in stake?, was adopted, with the exception that the distance in the Stavoley Bracelet was reduced from 1 mile to 7 furlong?. Four athletic events—loo yards (maiden), 100, 220, and 440 yards (open), also a bicycle race, one mile, prizes £2 and 10s, were included in the programme. In consequence of the day of the sports meeting (March 17th)f;illing on a Saturday, it was decided to hold the annual dance in the Staveley Hall on the precediag evening (Friday, 16th). As the course formerly us6d was not now available, it was resolved to communicate with the Mount Somers Sports Committee with a view to securing the use of the Mount Somers course for the meeting.

It was resolved to hold future meetings of the Committee at Staveley Hall, the next to be on Monday, December 19th, at 7.30 p.m.

Prior to adjourning, the Committee passed a resolution recording the valuable services rendered by Mr Fagan, as Chairman of Committee, and expressing regret at his resignation, consequent upon removal from the district.
