Sib,—l was looking over a Wanganiu paper this morning, and was struck by the great difference apparent in tha advertised prices of groceries and other household requisites as compared with the charges made by Ashburtoa tradesmen. Can any of your readers tell me why "Wangnnui storekeepers should be abe to sell the best 150 tost kerosene at 6a per oa^e, while our storekeepers want 93 and 9s Gd per case for the same article ? Flour again is selling in ■Wanganui (I quote from paper dated Feb. 26th) at 8s 6d per lOOlbs, as against 10s here, 50's at 4s 3d (os 3d hare), and 25's at 2s 3d, as against 2s 9d in Ashburton. Even raisins and currants are Id per lb cheaper than the cheapest lines advertised by Ashburton storekeepers. There is surely some reason for the manifest discrepancy in the Wanganui and Ashburton charges. Is it not about time a joint effort was made by i householders here to
