Melbourne, Feb. 27 The weather was hot far the opening of the Victoria Racing Club's Autumn Meetfog. The day was a very bad one for backers. Bonnie Chiel, Paul Pry, FifeneS3, Independence, Latchkey, Nirvana, Possum, Martinique, Giggles, Minier, Hazel "Lad, Mistcal, Ban Oeontha, Katoomba, and Mario also started. Won all out by a neck. Time ■^rlinin 17-jsec. Betting: 5, to 4on Playaway (favorite), 33 to 1 Mairp. The winner was hardly backed at all. He belongs to a bookmaker. The public sustained a great blow over the race.
