A memorial service was held nt Willowby on Sunday t-veiling in connection with (ha death of the late Miss Williams. There was a large congregation in attendance and ihe service proved h, very impressive one. It whs conducted by the Rev T. S. Ho also touched on the life of the deceased and on her work as Sunday school teacher and also as an enthusiastic Christian Endeavour worker and as a mem ber of the choir from tho apra of 14 yeirs. Her kind and genial disposition made her a bright light in the young life of the church. Her thoughtfulness towards the younger members of the family aud her invalid mother meant, tho giving up of the privilege o: y mg life, but this she cheerfully aid for the sake of those whom she Joyed. Her death, at the early age of 22 years, hus cast quite a gloom over the district. Mrs B. Hay man sang " Sweet Peace," the last solo deceased sang in public, and Mrs G. Wright sang " Anywhere with Jesus," the hymn which was upon her lips us she passed away. Mr Wallis, before eh sing his sermoD, tendered to the bereaved family the sympathies of the church and district, and spoke many kind words of comfort to them.

It; is the intention of the Ashburton County Council to close the Ashburton Traffic Bridge for repairs to morrow fortnight. The Bey. R.
