Ashburton Stock Market.

The attendance at the ordinary weekly sale of live stock coaducted to-day at the Tinwald yards, was large and representative, and the entry was in excess of any previous yarding recorded for several months past. About 9600 sheep and lambs, dO head of cattle, and 45 pigs of various classes were yarded. The entry of sheep was chiefly comprised of store lambs and breeding ewes, and any line in forward condition met with ready sale at prices, practically on a par with lite rates. The butchers' peas were not crowded, and prices obtained together with competition wore in sympathy with the yarding. Out of an entry of 40 head of cattlo the major portion consisted chiefly of well-conditioned Borts of light weights, which made prices at late rates. The following is a summary of prices realised : — Cattce.—Stora Cattle—Dry cows £2, .£3 17s Gd; dairy do £2 17s 6d, £3 10s, £3 11s, £6 103 ; steers 18-months to 2yrs, .£3 10s; 12 to J5 mtbs cattle £2 10s, £3. Sheep.—Fat sheep—Crossbred ewes 13s gd, 18s 3d, Ms 6d, 153 4d, 15s Gd, Fat lambs—Butchers sorts 11s 3d, 12s lOd, 14s ; freezing lambs, 12s 3d, 12s 4d, 13s to 13s sd. Store sheep—Lambs, 9s Id, 9s 4d, 10s 4d, 10s 7d, 10s lid, 11s, 11s 3d, Jls 4d, 11s 7d, lls 8d to 12s Id; crossbred ewes, (old,sorts) 6s 9d to 11s 2d; pound mouthed 13a 3d, lia 4d, 15s 2d, 15s ad, 15s id to 15s 6d ; merino breeding ewes 2s 10d to 6s .>d; breeding ewes 15s lid.
