Valedictory.

A pleasant little ceremony took place at the Hospital last evening, the occasion being the presentation of a silver framed standing mirror, with silver and ebony mounted clothes and hair brushes at tached, to Nurse Dennison, who is severing her connection with the institution, after having fulfilled the duties of the position of ; head nurso for nearly two years,. Miss Macandrtw, the matron, made the presentation on behalf of the staff, and/ in a few well chosen words, referred to the c cellent work done by Nurse Dennison while at the Hospital, and concluded her remarks by expressing tho sorrow folt by the staff at losing their, colleague. Nurse * Dennison feelingly and suitably responded saying wherever she went she would treasure the gift, not only for its intrinsic value, but more especially for the thoughtfulceas which had prompted the staff in thus teati' fying to the way she had done her duty. She would always remember her pleasant connection with the Asbburton Hospital. Accompanying the presentation was a prettily illuminated card, which on the face bore the inscription in gilt letters:—" Presented to Nurso Dennison from the Ashburton Hospital staff, with kindest wishes for her futnre welfare. September 30th, 1903." On the back of the card wore the autograph signatures of the staff;
