Line of Cattle.—A fine line of over 100 head of cattle from south of Timaru passed through to Little River by the 3.15 train this afternoon.

Prohibition and Tracing.—Judging by the attendance on bofh race days this week it would appear that prohibition has not affected the racing folk. Alfred Brown was charged at the Dunedin Police Court with having 19 tins of opium in his possession. Defendant is forecabin steward ,'on the Warrimoo, and intended to dispose of the opium in Dunedin. Accused pleaded for mercy, as the case had already cost him his situation, and he had paid £28 for the opium, which he had to forfeit, and he had a large family. He was fined £10 and costs.
