The War Loan.

Although it is considered unlikely that the Budget propoeals will be seriously opposed, The Times, Standard, and Morning Post express regret that the Government has not widened the basis of taxation, instead of persisting in the present inequalities. T:he government is issuing war loan bonds or stocks at a fixed price for a term not exceeding ten years. In the House of Commons the war loan resolution wa» agreed to by 161 votes to 26.
Sir Michael Hicka-Beach declared that he looked to the Transvaal as the firat source of the redemption of the Joan.
