LONGBEAOH HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY—A a eetiug of the Committee of the Longbeaoh fcforti ulcural Society was held ia the Longbiiaoh school on Tuesday evening, March 6. There were present—Rev J» Skinner (chair' mai) and most of the members. The President reported that the recent flower show had been an unqualified success, exceeding the expectations of the most sanguine. Hearty votes of thanks were accorded to the judges —Messrs T. Pitt and W. W. Smith—for the satisfactory manner in which they had assisted the Society in the matter of judging ; the Secretary to forward the same to the gentlemen named ; also to Miss Grigg and Mrs Rich, who had judged the bread, j aconee, buns, and butter ; the ladies who had provided refreshments for the show, and the ladies who presided over the same ; to the Secretary and her assistant for their unutkg energy in connection with the show ; to the business men of Ashburton, wh> hud so liberally assisted the society ia giving prz;s; end also to Mr Grigg for granting the use of timber and sending a mv.i to fix up the stages for the show.
