"United Preiß Association—By Electric Telegraph. Auckland, March 16 There has been no further fighting at Samoa up to the date of tho Moana's departure on March 10. In consequence of rumors that Mataafa's followers threatened to barn the villages of the Malietoa party unless the latter paid taxes, soldiers were sent by the provision*! Government, and the British and American Consuls issued a proclamation threatening strong action and denying the report thai they recognised Mataafa as king. A counter proclamation, issued by the German consul upholding the Provisional Government, had effect of stimulating the Mataaftet, who were gathering with arms when the Moans. A Conference of pritish, American and German officers is proceeding on the $«g«hig Philadelphia.
