The match between the above horses, for a wager of £100 a side, over a distance of three miles, took place on the Addington Show Grounds on Thursday afternoon. There were upwards of 500 persons present, including a few ladies. General Tracy showed best in the preliminary, and though there was little or no betting on the tesult, he was the one the body of the spectators expected to prevail. Inside pace was drawn for Sam Slick, and ha led frnmd the first bead and into the back atreteh. The stallion, however, was upon him before a j hundred yards of the straight run had been completed, and as he forged ahead Sam Slick left his feet, and before he could be balanced again General Tracy had drawn away some forty or fifty yarda.
