In response to the request from Mr Davis, captain of the New South Wales team now in New Zealand, Newell, an intercolonial bowler, is endeavoring to obtain leave to go to New Zealand to strengthen the team in the match against all !New Zealand. After lunch the New South Wales team started their first innings, but their batting was disappointing to the 3000 spectators present, it making no headway against the bowling of Robertson and Labatt, who bowled unchanged. The, innings closed for 118 runs, and in the follow on three men are out for 24 runs. The scores are as follows :— New South Wales—lst Innings.
