London, August 9. Thirty thousand English miners have resumed work at the advance of a half per cent. The "Daily Chronicle" states that forty thousand Midland miners are discussing the offer of the masters to resurae work on the old terras. The Allen Steamship Company have instituted a libel action against Mr J. H.Wilson, secretary of the Seamen's Union, for statements made by the latter reflecting on the Company's treatment of its servauts. August 10. Tho Allen Steamship Company recovered J&200 damage 3 against Wilton. The Scotch miners intend to strike, unless their wages are raised Is per day. MrSctnsa, the Sydney delegate to the World's Socialist Congress at Zurich, declares that colonial workers recognise that labor with its present weapons ia unable lo fight against capital, and that political action is required.
