IMPERIAL PARLIAMENT.

London, August 9. The House of Lords has adjourned ui.fl the 22nd. Government enforced the closure on Mr Chaplin's motion, condemning the closing of the Indian mints. In the House of Commons Mr Macartney moved an amendment to the Rome Rule Bill similar to that of Mr Balfour, which Mas struck out on Monday owing to the absence of the latter. The debate had been adjourned, and Government accepted the amendment compelling members of the Irish Parliament to take an oath of allegiance and another amendment excluding priests from sitting in Parliament. London, August 10. In the Home Rule debate, Mr Chamberlain made a violent attack on Mr Gladstone for retaining Irish members in the Imperial Parliament. The Premier frequently interrupted him, and to admit the accuracy of quotations from his previous speeches. The Convention of Paraellites in Dublin passed a resolution that no Bill would be acceptable which did not fulfil the conditions which Mr Parnell demanded in 1891, and that no settlement could be considered final until the prisoners now in confinement were amnestied, and the claims of evicted tenants satisfied. The quarrel between Mr Chamberlain and Mr O'Brien has been adjusted. Mr Broadwick denies that he was chased into a farm-house by an indignant audience in consequence of his attack on Mr Gladstone. (Received August 11,10.50 a.m.) London, August 10. In the House of Commons, Mr McCartney's amendment to the Home Rule Bill was rejected by a majority of 40.
