FLOODS IN NELSON.

Nsuon, July 24. Reports from the country district show that considerable damage was done by Sunday's flood, although the rain only continued for seventeen hours. The Wai-iti and Wairoa rivers were m higher flood than for twenty-five years before, and even insignificant little streams stuck up horsemen. The Motupiko and Motueka livers were also heavily flooded, and a cart bridge on the West Coast coaoh road at the junction of those riven has been damaged. One row of piles wm scoured out, and the deck of the bridge had sagged a foot. The approaches to Foxhill cart bridge were rendered unsafe, and the Brightwater bridge £o Waimea West had theoentre pier carried away, the bridge hanging by the bolti only, and will not oarry a hone.
